All-inclusive ophthalmic conference integrates latest tech throughout CE, exhibits

Norwalk, CT (August 12, 2014) – As wearable technology continues to invigorate the world of eye care through both form and function, International Vision Expo & Conference will introduce a targeted new CE track dedicated to educating attendees on what this technology means for the industry’s future, and how to maximize its business potential.

The six-hour Wearable Tech track, held Friday, September 19 at Vision Expo West will highlight everything from Google Glass to augmented reality goggles to GPS and Bluetooth enabled frames:

  • The Glass Class – a one hour group discussion about Google Glass and other wearable technologies that relate to eye care;
  • The Future of Digital Vision and Wearable Technology – need-to-know information about smart glasses and other wearable technology innovations, and how to effectively market these solutions;
  • Technology Within the Blink of an Eye – a look at how the next generation of GPS and Bluetooth heads-up display technology is integrated into unique frame design to maximize field of view;
  • Eye2: What you Need to Know About Eyewear and Eyecare’s Pivotal New Role in Wearable Technology: a discussion and demonstration on the latest developments in wearable optical technology, from smart glasses and contact lenses to augmented and virtual reality systems and low vision devices and how these technologies are benefitting patients;
  • Wired and Blurry! – an overview of products to increase contrast, comfort and focus for the digital generation.

Technology has led the eye care industry to a pivotal point of advancement and, while wearables are the buzzword of the moment, technical innovation continues to spur progress across all areas of the profession.

In recognition of the ways new technology is changing the practice and business of eye care, Vision Expo West will offer more than 38 hours of continuing education on how professionals can integrate technology in every aspect of practice for improved patient outcomes and profitability. From imaging and surgical applications to dispensary practices, including marketing and management tools, the 20-course track covers the latest need-to-know information.

Additionally, the popular 10-hour Spectacle Lens Expert track returns this year to educate attendees on the latest lens technology, trends in freeform lens processing and digital eyestrain.

International Vision Expo & Conference has become the global eye care industry’s top destination for learning about the latest generation of products, equipment and designs. Attendees benefit not only from learning about these technologies in the classroom, but also through exclusive hands-on exhibit hall learning offered only through Vision Expo.

Registration is open for Vision Expo West, which returns this year to the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. (Education: Sept. 17-20, Exhibition: Sept. 18-20).
