International Vision Expo West Reports Pre-Registration Figures

September 24, 2013

Norwalk, CT (September 24, 2013) – With just over a week until the show doors open, pre-registration figures for International Vision Expo West are tracking four percent higher, compared to the same period last year, with a noteworthy increase in conference – up 11 percent from International Vision Expo West 2012. Show management will welcome  well over  13,000 eyecare professionals and buyers at this year’s event, held Oct. 2-5, 2013 (Education: Oct. 2-5, Exhibition: Oct. 3-5) at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas. A complete, third-party audit of International Vision Expo West will be available approximately six weeks after the show.

“We are pleased with the way pre-registration is progressing as we enter the final week before our show,” said Courtney Muller, group vice president for Reed Exhibitions. “Our Conference Advisory Board has developed a number of new courses and specialty tracks to address the clinical and non-clinical topics that eyecare professionals have been asking for – and it shows! We’re also continuing to promote the 600+ Show Specials from our exhibitors, as well as travel and entertainment discounts available to help deliver eyecare professionals and buyers to the show.”

Next week, over 3,500 new attendees – including 200 new OPTImum buyers – will walk the show floor at Vision Expo West for the first time. The OPTImum program has grown to include more than 700 key decision-makers/buyers, ophthalmic professionals, lab owners/directors and top-level management.

A pre-show survey taken by those who have already registered for Vision Expo West provides a glimpse into what influences eyecare professionals in their decision to attend the show. For respondents, sourcing new products – from fashion frames to lenses to lens processing technology – continues to be the primary reason for attending. When asked about issues and challenges that they hope to solve by attending the show, respondents listed the following as their top three choices:

  1. Find ideas to help increase practice profitability
  2. Find a new line of frames/lenses/other accessories to offer my customers
  3. See what’s new in diagnostic and eyecare equipment

“We have nearly 450 exhibitors from around the globe and more than 5,000 brands at our show. Being able to house all of that, plus meeting space for industry-related events and a dedicated conference program covering topics from clinical diagnosis and treatment to business solutions, makes Vision Expo West a top choice for attendees, year after year.”
