Dr. Ian Benjamin Gaddie Named as Vision Expo Conference Advisory Board Co-Chair Discusses New Role in Video Interview

July 16, 2015

Norwalk, CT (July 16, 2015) — International Vision Expo & Conference announces that Ian Benjamin Gaddie, OD, FAAO has agreed to serve as co-chairman of the Conference Advisory Board. Gaddie joins Mark Dunbar, OD, FAAO in leading the development of the Vision Expo continuing education program, the most comprehensive and progressive education program available to the eyecare profession.

Gaddie is owner and director of Kentucky-based Gaddie Eye Centers, a family owned practice. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, President of the Optometric Glaucoma Society (OGS) and outgoing chairman of the American Optometric Association’s continuing education committee. He serves on the editorial boards of Review of Optometry, Optometric Management, Primary Care Optometry News and Optometry Times. In 2011, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Pioneers in Optometry Hall of Fame. He is the 2015 recipient of the Kentucky Optometrist of The Year award.

Here, Dr. Gaddie shares what most excites him about his involvement with International Vision Expo & Conference and the factors that differentiate the event from other eyecare meetings:

TOTAL TEAM APPROACH

Gaddie: “We’re really excited about the total team approach that we bring to Vision Expo. One of the most unique aspects of the meeting is the diversity of topics and the no-barriers openness of the education program which allows attendees to sit, learn and share side by side regardless of title of mode of practice.

We have a program for everyone so when you come back from our meeting, not only are the doctors energized and ready to apply new education concepts to their practice, but opticians are excited about a new frame line or new program to increase sales or efficiency. The whole team comes back energized and it really does make an impact.

In my own experience, our eyecare team is the biggest asset our practice has and attending Vision Expo education is always a worthwhile investment in the growth of our practice, our people, and our patients.”

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Gaddie: “One of the great things about Vision Expo meetings is the actual location of each meeting. Not only are these great locations, they’re the same every year so you always know what you’re going to get. Las Vegas is one of the most exciting cities in the world. It’s unparalleled in glamour, gaming, sports, and overall shopping and life experiences you can have there. Each Vision Expo meeting brings a totally different feel to it but at the same time, you know what you can expect and you really couldn’t pick two better cities than Las Vegas and New York.”

EXPERT COLLABORATION

Gaddie: “I’m really excited to have been appointed conference co-chairman for Vision Expo. This is a great opportunity for myself and for my own professional development. I’m excited about having a great team around me of people that have a lot of experience in education and the tradeshow environment. I’m looking forward to this collaboration to be able to put on one of the best shows in all of eyecare.”

The International Vision Expo & Conference education program, held bi-annually in New York and Las Vegas, features more than 650 combined hours of content focused on 3 core competencies — disease diagnosis and treatment; clinical application of products; and healthy business solutions.
