Dr. Diana Shechtman is a board-certified Optometric Physician who obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 1998. In 1999, she completed a one-year ocular disease residency at Fox Medical Center in Miami, Florida. She then joined Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry where she was promoted to the rank of Professor and served as a full-time faculty member for 18 years. Among her many roles, she served as Coordinator of the Diabetes & Macula Service and the Director of Interdisciplinary Education. In 2016, she completed a 6-month retinal sabbatical in Miami, Florida. She is currently the Consultative Optometric Physician at Retina Macula Specialists of Miami. Dr. Shechtman is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and the Optometric Retinal Society (ORS). She continues to serve as a member of numerous professional committees. She is also on various Advisory Boards and Professional Speakers Bureaus for a number of companies. Dr. Shechtman is on the Editorial Review Board of a number of journals, including the new digital journal collaboratEYE. She continues to participate in numerous journal publications and various research grants. She is currently the co-author of Retinal Dilemmas for Review of Optometry. Dr. Shechtman has lectured expensively at a local, national & international level in the area of vitreo-retinal disease & is the chair of the TRIOD Conference.
