International Participation Continues to Grow at Vision Expo West

July 28, 2011

Norwalk, CT (July 28, 2011) – International Vision Expo & Conference, held September 21-25, 2011 (Education: September 21-25, Exhibition: September 22-24) at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, announces new initiatives and discounts to help international visitors get the most out of the show, the education and Las Vegas.

“International Vision Expo is the complete eye care event,” said Tom Loughran, Vice President for Reed Exhibitions. “We are constantly looking for new ways to expand our global reach with key partners, OD buying groups, publications and associations. Our event garners a substantial presence from international partners, exhibitors and attendees who travel to Vegas to conduct business and learn about the latest products and technology in one convenient location.”

David Tobin, Director of International Sales at Reed Exhibitions, agreed that the level of international involvement has risen. “In 2010, Vision Expo attendance from countries other than the United States increased to 13 percent. In total, 64 countries were represented with the top five being Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, Japan and China.” He added, “This year we’ve noted increased participation from Korea and new government support from Taiwan and China – particularly from the Taiwan Spectacles Industry Association (TSIA) and the China Optometric & Optical Association (COOA) – which will help Vision Expo add more international exhibitors and grow global attendance at the show.”

International Vision Expo is a valuable information resource for attendees, providing access to the latest in optical, fashion, technology and equipment in the eyecare industry. Multiple pavilions, the Galleria, and The Suites boast more than 450 exhibitors at this year’s show, which is projected to expand to 168,000 sq. ft (up 12,000 sq. ft from last year).

International Vision Expo & Conference continues to educate more optometrists than any other eyecare meeting. The event offers eyecare professionals more than 388 hours of world-class education for every area of interest – a noteworthy increase of more than 80 hours from last year.

New this year, the continuing education curriculum has been reorganized to be more inclusive. Courses have been divided into four overarching topic areas – Business Solutions, Medical/Clinical, Optical Technology, and Contact Lenses – making it easier for attendees to customize their education strategy. The program also includes six custom designed sessions, supported by Transitions®, to meet the needs of our Spanish speaking attendees.
